Google Chrome saves passwords in the Chrome web browser to help users recover forgotten passwords of any online accounts. Users of Google Chrome can retrieve a list of the usernames and passwords that have been saved in the browser easily by using any of the methods described in this article. Google Chrome saves passwords in the browser to make online shopping and browsing the web more accessible. Saving passwords automatically is a feature to make using the web more accessible. Finding Chrome’s Password File on your Hard Drive

To view all your saved passwords that Chrome has saved on your device or laptop, you have to go to the device’s file system, go to Google Password manager, or open Chrome.

1. The Google Chrome password file can be found on your laptop or desktop filesystem at C:\Users\$username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default.

2. The sites with their associated saved Chrome passwords can be found in a login data file named Login Data.

3. When navigating to this file on your desktop or laptop filesystem, use your own Windows username instead of $username.

You will find the URLs of the websites you saved the credentials for in this file. The email addresses used to log in are also kept in this file, and most of them are in plain text. This means that anyone who has access to this file can easily read all your Google Chrome passwords with a text editor such as Windows Notepad. As the passwords are encrypted, hacking into this file will give you half the sign-in info you require to get into anyone’s online account.

Password manager apps store all your passwords encrypted, meaning you don’t have to be worried about a lost password again. You can also sync these types of apps across all your devices.

How Can I Find Google Chrome Saved Passwords on Windows Computers With Chrome?

To view the passwords the Chrome browser has saved, open Chrome and type chrome://settings in the address bar. Select the Passwords option from the top of the first section to see your saved passwords.

Instead of typing chrome://settings in the address bar to get to the settings page, you can also click on the three vertically stacked dots in the upper-right corner of the Chrome screen and then choose Settings from the drop-down menu to view saved passwords.

Select the website and then the eyeball icon to view your password for a specific website. Chrome will ask for your computer password if you use one. The computer password you use to log into the machine when waking it up from sleep or turning it on. If you don’t use a user password on your device, this will reveal the passwords with no extra information.

You can also remove passwords Chrome saved in this section, but you can’t edit passwords.

Android Google Password Manager

1. Click the three vertically stacked dots in the top right-hand corner of the Chrome app screen

3. Select Passwords

4. Tap “View and manage saved passwords in your Google Account.”

5. Chrome will prompt you for your Google account password before giving you access to stored passwords

To view your saved password for each website, select the website and the eyeball icon next to the website.
